Panos

Captain

Greek | Aged 39 | Speaks Greek, English and basic Italian

Captain Panos Karampasis as a Master Mariner Unlimited has 18 years of experience in the marine industry ranging from large bulk carriers transporting coal and iron ore to cruise ships and passenger ships, carrying thousands of passengers daily. He has extensively cruised the Eastern and Western Mediterranean and has intimate knowledge of the best yachting spots of the Aegean and Ionian seas.

Captain Panos graduated from the Merchant Marine Academy of the island of Syros. His commercial navy background and his service time as the Commander of an Hellenic Navy minesweeper have endowed him with superlative boat handling and navigation skills. Since 2009 he has been a devoted yachting industry professional with great leadership and organisational skills and very excited with his career at sea, his enthusiasm blending very well with the positive attitude of the entire crew.

As the Captain, he takes great pride in creating tailor-made yacht cruise experiences for each charter. He works closely with his guests to ensure that all of their needs and wishes are met having their safety and comfort as his top priorities. His love for traveling provides Captain Panos with the passion to research and organize all kinds of activities aiming at the enhancement of the on board experience of his guests. Captain Panos is married and has three children. His hobbies range from sports such as tennis, biking and hiking to woodworking and gardening. Ηe has previously served aboard yachts ranging from 30m to 74m.

Panagiotis

Chief Engineer

Greek | Aged 47 | Speaks Greek, English

Chief Panos Papadimitriou graduated as an Engineer from the Merchant Marine Academy of Aspropyrgos. He has 24 years of experience in the marine industry serving aboard passenger ferries as well as very large tankers transporting crude oil and brings a great deal of experience and knowledge to ensure the smooth operation of the yacht and her equipment.

Panos participated in the 2021 extensive refit and upgrade of APMONIA during her dry docking and has intimate knowledge of her systems, having personally suggested many of the enhancements that were carried out. He is available 24 hours a day to deal with engineering issues and is always willing to assist with deck activities and water sports.

He has completed all safety trainings as well as MTU main engine and Κohler generator maintenance seminars. Panos is married and has two children. He enjoys activities in the mountains as well as fishing. In his spare time he is a dog trainer. This is his third year with APMONIA having previously served aboard yachts ranging from 30m to 50m.

Lefteris

Bosun

Greek | Aged 42 | Speaks Greek, English

Lefteris started working aboard luxury charter yachts due to his passion for both the sea and the hospitality industry. He is an Able Seaman with a high sense of responsibility and awareness and will be there to assist whenever needed, always attentive to guests’ needs while remaining approachable and cheerful.

Lefteris has experience in deck activities and water sports, has completed all safety trainings and holds a speed boat license. Lefteris is married and the proud father of two children. In his spare time he is an avid basketball player and enjoys diving and fishing. He is in his third year with APMONIA having previously served aboard yachts ranging from 34m to 38m.

Sarantis

Chef

Greek & Thai | Aged 38 | Speaks Greek, Thai, English

Sarantis graduated in 2012 from ‘Le Monde Culinary Institute’ in Athens. Embarking on his lifetime culinary journey was not by simple chance but it was meant to be as his Thai mother was a Chef with a long career at various Thai restaurants. She was his inspiration and mentor teaching him the various techniques, flavours, aromas and secrets of the Thai culinary tradition.

He started his career at a 5-star urban Hotel in Athens, being exposed to an environment demanding high standards right from the start. In order to enrich his knowledge of the Mediterranean cuisine he worked at various restaurants around Greece. He then moved to Reading, England and was employed as a Chef at a Thai and a Vietnamese restaurant.

Upon his return to Greece, Sarantis worked as a consultant and helped set up various restaurants ranging from Asian such as Polynesian and Japanese, to Mediterranean. Sarantis is characterised by a passion for maintaining the tradition of Greek hospitality focusing on seasonal Greek culinary treasures – from the sea and the land – cherishing their freshness and working his magic to bring out their delighitul flavours. Exciting and tingling his guests’ palates is what motivates him to go further, learn new skills and keep discovering, as he did in February and April 2024 during private tuition sessions organised by The Academy Monaco. This included a week- long course by Chef Laurent Lemal, a Bocuse d’Or winner, a second week-long course by MOF David Alessandria, Head Chef at Clinique La Prairie in Montreux, Switzerland and a cuisine minceur expert. The Championne du Monde des Arts Sucrés, Marie Simon revealed to Sarantis the secrets of French haute pâtisserie during a four-day private tuition session on the great dessert and viennoiserie classics, ice-creams and sorbets.

His connection with the sea goes back to his grandfather who was a Captain from the island of Cephalonia. After spending 13 years as Chef and restaurant consultant ashore, he dynamically entered the yachting industry and worked aboard a commercially chartered yacht that successfully concluded 106 days of charter trips in the summer of 2023. Sarantis is excited to combine his culinary passion with his legacy by joining the luxury yachting industry. He is the proud father of three children and is an active sportsman and a Greek army trained paratrooper.

Yiannis

Steward

Greek | Aged 45 | Speaks Greek, English, basic German

Yiannis is a Hospitality graduate of the Organisation of Tourism Education and Training in Athens. During his studies he specialised in Food & Beverage, Restaurant and Bar Service as well as Wine. He started his career at one of the most iconic luxury hotels along the coast of the Athenian Riviera. Being a lifelong learner he currently studies towards a BSc degree in Tourism Management at the Hellenic Open University.

Over the past 20 years he has worked as a Bartender, Restaurant waiter, In-Room-Dining waiter, Banquet waiter, Shift leader, Assistant Restaurant Manager and Restaurant Manager at various 5 star hotels in Greece. His decision to join the luxury yachting industry came naturally to him as he had fond memories of serving as a Captain’s Chief Steward in the Hellenic Navy.

As he holds a Sommelier Diploma from the WSPC Wine School in Athens and has also obtained the Level 3 Advanced Certificate HESTIA “The World of Greek Wine”, Yiannis is fully prepared and eager to share with his guests his passion for Greek vineyards and the secrets of their diverse terroir. He also holds a Level 2 Bartending and Mixology certificate with a specialisation in crafting classic and modern cocktails employing creative techniques to always surprise and delight his guests!

In February 2024, The Academy Monaco organised aboard APMONIA a private tuition session on Wine Service savoir-faire by Flavien Claude Berlaud, a MOF Maître d’Hôtel who is passionate about wine and spirits. During these two days, Yiannis and his fellow crew member Eleni were taught the details that make the difference when it comes to storing, preparing and serving wine to guests as well as the intricacies of pairing it with the ideal foods for unforgettable moments of gourmet bliss on board.

In January 2024, The Academy Monaco organised aboard APMONIA a week-long private tuition session on Hospitality and Housekeeping during which Yiannis had the opportunity to be trained on modern guest service by Pierre-Marie Ragon, an award-winning MOF Maître d’Hôtel and by Marie Favre, a MOF Gouvernante, on yachting housekeeping best practices, the objective being to elevate guest services aboard APMONIA to French ‘Palace’ level.

Yiannis is a team player, with a friendly, respectful and supportive attitude towards his fellow crew members. He is flexible and quick to adapt to the wishes and preferences of guests from around the world having served a demanding international clientele throughout his career being fully committed to APMONIA’s mission to deliver unique experiences.

Yannis is a basketball player and in his spare time enjoys reading about history and wines. He loves traveling and especially attending wine shows to socialize and expand his horizons.

Eleni

Stewardess

Greek | Aged 44 | Speaks Greek, English, basic French

Eleni is an avid sailor, she holds an offshore sailing diploma and used to own a sailing boat for twelve years. She joined APMONIA after having worked as a Stewardess, Hostess, Cook and Bartender on private and charter yachts over the past 19 years. She loves meeting people from all over the world and her love for the sea runs deep in her veins, thus the yachting industry allows her to transform her passion into a profession.

She holds a Sommelier Diploma from the “Le Monde Institute of Hotel and Tourism Studies” in Athens and is a Sound Engineer by training. From 1999 to 2007 she owned a pet shop and then worked at the Ordering Department of a well-known health and beauty lifestyle products firm where she had the opportunity to attend a series of seminars on Customer Psychology Management, Smart Salesman and Telephone Service Techniques as well as Digital Marketing.

This diverse background of professional life experiences has helped her acquire the skills and mindset necessary to excel in providing the highest level of housekeeping and offering a personalised service to our guests tailored to their individual needs and preferences to ensure they will enjoy every moment of their trip. Her personal mission is to help guests discover all the treasures and beauty that is Greece, ranging from delightful Mediterranean specialties and wines, to history, philosophy, art and culture.

In her spare time, Eleni enjoys playing tennis, attending yoga classes, reading and enjoying the company of her friends and family. She has previously served aboard yachts ranging from 24m to 36m.

Manos

Hospitality Manager

Shore-based in Athens
Greek | Aged 36 | Speaks Greek, English

Manos has a great passion for his profession and graduated with a Hotel and Tourism Diploma from the Organisation of Tourism Education in Anavyssos, Greece. He started his career at one of the top luxury hotels in Mykonos and has more than 15 years of experience in the luxury hospitality industry.

As a Restaurant Manager over the past 5 years, he successfully led his team to excel achieving the highest score possible in the ‘Leading Quality Assurance’ assessments repeatedly. Manos has worked harmoniously in co-operation with Michelin starred Chefs such as Edgard Bovier and Ettore Botrini and reached the pinnacle of his career as a Restaurant Manager at a resort of the luxury brand One&Only.

Manos has always been motivated in his profession by the desire to exquisitely delight his guests by offering them memorable experiences to cherish for a lifetime. Manos is characterised by excellent managerial and organisational abilities along with strong interpersonal and communication skills. He has an exceptionally strong customer-centric focus doing his best to listen to and understand his guests’ desires in order to deliver reliable and effective services with great attention to detail.

He has a positive outlook on life and a friendly and outgoing personality. He is the proud father of two children who are his greatest passion along with traveling and wine tasting.

He is excited to be able to offer unforgettable moments of pure bliss to his guests in the ultra-luxury segment of the yachting industry and what better opportunity to do so than as the shore-based Hospitality Manager of APMONIA.
